How we started

Five Vines is, was, and will always be driven by love. Love for better wine for better times, sure. but much more than that.

Kathryn and Darren Davis started Five Vines almost accidentally. For their tenth wedding anniversary, they sought out a special way to commemorate the occasion and celebrate their love. Why not learn how to make wine and produce something that could tangibly represent that love (besides their kids, of course)? Thus, the first bottling, our 2015 XD Zinfandel, was born.

And they were hooked.

Family

Five Vines represents our origins: the Five Vines are the five members of the nuclear Davis family: Kathryn, Darren and their 3 kids. We could have added in the parents, the dogs, the goats… but Five Vines just had the right vibe to it.

Futureness

Fast forward a few years, and life landed Kathryn and Darren in beautiful Oakdale, California – The Cowboy Capital of the World! This lifestyle change afforded them the opportunity to acquire a little patch of land to call, and plant, as their own.  Zinfandel grapes were planted, and extremely limited estate bottlings of Five Vines Estate Zin will be coming. Someday. When it’s ready. 🙂
